MILAN - The opening-day soccer games in Italy that were called off because of a players' strike will be played Dec. 20-21.
The strike postponed the start of Serie A on the weekend of Aug. 27-28. The job action ended when the players' association and league signed a contract that will expire in June.
The league says Fiorentina will play at Siena on Dec. 20 and defending champion AC Milan will play at Cagliari. The following day, it will be: Napoli vs. Genoa, Atalanta vs. Cesena, Bologna vs. Roma, Inter Milan vs. Lecce, Lazio vs. Chievo Verona, Novara vs. Palermo, Parma vs. Catania and Udinese vs. Juventus.
